We have been learning all about bees in Year 2 and have loved reading Omar the Bees and Me – this read along version is a lovely one to share! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W_6AgufCUQ
We are hoping to make some honey cake over the next couple of weeks using the special recipe from the book. Maybe you could try it at home too!
You will need:
- 250g plain flour
- 4 eggs
- 150g sugar
- 100g runny honey
- 250g butter
- 1 tsp baking powder
- A pinch of salt
Preheat your oven to 160 degrees (fan assisted) and prepare your cake tin by either greasing well or lining with baking paper (we lined ours with baking paper).
In a large bowl, beat the butter until it is soft and creamy. Add in the sugar and mix till creamed together.
Add the honey, salt, baking powder, flour and eggs into the large bowl, and mix well after each ingredient.
Pour the mixture into your pre-prepared cake tin and bake for 45 minutes until golden (we needed to bake ours for 1 hour).
