School meals are cooked on the premises and eaten in our school hall. A main course and sweet is served. Milk is available to all pupils at lunchtime. At present all meals are provided free of charge to families under the government's Universal Free School Meal initiative.
A menu is sent home periodically and one is displayed on the parents' notice board and on our website. Regular, vegetarian and jacket potato options are available daily. The cook is usually able to provide special diets for medically diagnosed allergies or intolerance. Please ask Mrs Trotter if you require more information about this or visit the website for further information.
If you do not wish your child to have a school meal, then he/she may bring a packed lunch to school. If you provide your child with a drink would you make sure that it is not fizzy and that it is in a leak-proof container inside the lunch-box. Please think about the health balance of your child’s lunch. We do not believe that sweets are a healthy part of a school lunch.
Mid-Morning Drinks & Snacks
Children at Colman Infant receive fruit free as part of the free fruit for schools scheme. We discourage children from bringing other sorts of snacks to school but are happy to discuss particular requirements with parents.
All children need a water bottle with non-spillable sports top. We sell good quality bottles in the office for £2.00. It is important that these are brought to school each day filled with fresh water. Children are encouraged to drink often from these bottles throughout the day- there are also a number of water fountains around the school for the children to use.
