As it was our first week back in school after a long time away we decided to link our Science thinking through the amazing book ‘Ada Twist: Scientist.’ We looked at all the questions she asked and talked about how Science is all about asking and answering questions. Year 2 learnt and started using a new word ‘hypothesis’ for their investigations and we all looked at lots of different Science investigations!
Reception focussed on floating and sinking, questioning, like Ada does, why this was happening? They predicted how many elephants their boats could hold.
Year 1 and 2 looked at the investigations that Ada does in school and completed some amazing experiments! They looked at Ada’s investigation about what was making the terrible stink, came up with their own hypotheses of what would make a terrible stink and also discussed how smells actually get from what is making the smell to our noses! Year 2 also practised hypothesising when completing their chromatography rainbow experiments.
