Off to the postbox…

After reading The Jolly Postman, we were inspired to make our own special winter cards, writing a cheerful message inside for our grown ups.. We had great fun walking to the local postbox to post the cards. We can’t wait to see them when they are delivered to our homes.

Family Learning Session

Holly Class enjoyed a wonderful Family Learning Session in which we were busy making wintery crafts. We were lucky to have lots of grown-ups join us for the fun! Thank you to the parents who helped to tidy up at the end.

The Gigantic Turnip

Year 1 have had great fun creating their own versions of a shared story, ‘The Gigantic Turnip.’ We created our own characters and made mini puppet theatres so we could rehearse our new stories. Repeating our stories helps us remember what to write and helps us create imaginative, detailed pieces of writing.

Family Learning

Year 1 sailed off through night and day and in and out of weeks and almost over a year and met… some wild things! After much gnashing of terrible teeth, roaring of terrible roars and rolling of terrible teeth, we managed to tame them (just like Max, the hero of Maurice Sendak’s story ‘Where the Wild Things Are’).

We really enjoyed making wild thing puppets with our grown-ups and showing off our drama and writing skills.
