Pupils from both Colman Junior and Infant Schools have raised money on Friday 28th May for outdoor play equipment by coming to school with fun hair styles and hats. This was organised by the school council. We’ve had a great time! Final total will be announced shortly.
The final Friday of Spring term means only one thing at CJS: the Egg Jarping Championships.
This year proved another hotly contested event, with children in each year group, pitting their best hard boiled eggs against each other in a survival-of-the-hardest knockout competition.
This year’s contest had it all! There were nail-biting finishes, staff versus children battles and even an underboiled egg disaster! Most importantly, everyone entered into the spirit of the competition and enjoyed the ups and downs the egg jarping world brings with it. Huge congratulations to everyone who competed, and a special well done to the winners and runner-up in each year group who recieved a certificate and an Easter egg.
On Tuesday 20th April, we had our first Summer School Council meeting via Zoom. There were lots of things to discuss on our agenda! We have a school dinner survey to complete, vote on the play equipment we would like for our outside boxes and decide which fund-raising events we will run, to buy a home and run for our new school tortoise.
It’s going to be busy.
During December, the School Council raised awareness and asked everyone in school to help tackle the issue of litter.
As you can see, the year 6 School Council representatives, found a large amount of litter on the school site. During a zoom assembly, they shared the photo showing the pile of litter found and encouraged everyone to work together to make the school a litter free zone.
Before lockdown, the PTA donated £50 to each class for new wet play games. The School Council liaised with their classes to create a wish list for each class. As you can see, there were a variety of games purchased.
A BIG Thank you to the PTA, for your kind donations.

On Friday 13th November, as a Federation, we celebrated Children in Need day by coming into school in our pj’s or onesies and bringing a £1 donation. As a Federation we raised £452.54.
